Stanley Cup Playoffs: As I professed in these pages before, I am a BIG sports fan especially of Football (American kind) and Hockey (Ice kind) - and yes I like soccer too especially games that involve AC Milan or Barcelona (my two favorite teams in that order). But back to the Stanley Cup playoffs - as the playoffs of the NHL (National Hockey League) is called. Why Stanley Cup you may ask - its because the prize for winning the playoff is the Lord Stanley's Cup; why the Lord you may ask - well ask the Canadians - this whole playing hockey on ice is their idea, and they are (still) obsessed with the Lords and Ladies and Da Queen :D

| Stanley Cup |
Kentucky Derby: Good Lord @ all the trash talking done by Mr Nice Guy Nerdyy up there LOL. Well - the other important event of note today is the annual horse racing classic the Kentucky Derby.

| Churchill Downs - Louisville, Kentucky |
This race is held at the track called the Churchill Downs in Louisville in the state of Kentucky, which is famous for its rolling hills, horse farms and bourbon. The roses you see above are important because the winning horse gets a big sheath of roses :D. This years race was on a rain drenched track, and the winner was the favorite Orb. Its not that I'm interested in horse racing - the Kentucky Derby is just an American tradition, where people tune in for a three hour television coverage just to watch a 2-minute race - it's just what you do on the first Saturday of May :D

Well -
ReplyDeleteWell -
Well -
Somehow I imagine a nerdyy ji addressing a group with his speech and starting it off each time with a "Well -" :P
Well - now that you say it ... amybe I used it too many times LOLL :P
DeleteAnd obsessed? Hardly - that would be a perfect example of the American's obsession with their closeminded Canadian stigma - generalizing on no basis other than the basis of generalization.
ReplyDelete:P
DeleteBIGKICK in yo backside.
Delete:rolleyes ... americans - the born heres and the naturalized have an innate ability to generalize aboot others no matter if that generalization is factual or not :D
DeleteTrust me, I KNOW. *mutters* Then you have the fobs who try to emulate them: most work they do in 'fact finding' is looking up the local Burger King joint to get more obese and then opening their laptops with greasy fingers trying to look 'cool' and logging onto chatrooms and accusing other Americans of being illegal immigrant HBO1 uncles :P
DeleteLOLLL

ReplyDeleteAs Governor General, Derby was the third holder of that office to whom Queen Victoria granted the power of granting pardons to offenders or remitting sentences and fines and the power of mitigating capital or any other sentence.
