Like I'm Gonna Lose you (2015) - Meghan Trainor

Posted by Nerdyy

One of my favorite new artists - Meghan Trainor - yes it's all about the bass - NO TREBLE !

I found myself dreaming
In silver and gold
Like a scene from a movie
That every broken heart knows
We were walking on moonlight
And you pulled me close
Split second and you disappeared
And then I was all alone
I woke up in tears
With you by my side
A breath of relief
And I realized
No, we're not promised tomorrow
So I'm gonna love you like I'm gonna lose you
And I'm gonna hold you like I'm saying goodbye
Wherever we're standing
I won't take you for granted
'Cause we'll never know when, when we'll run out of time

Pasta in Roma ? Yes, Of Course !

Posted by Nerdyy

As I had mentioned, the posts are going to be a mix of songs (non-Indian), travel and food - the last two sometimes mixed together i.e. landmark food establishments in fun to travel to places. Our first stop is Rome - The Eternal City. Always bustling, crowded with a real threat of thieves around every corner, Rome has some of the best food in the planet, along with a lot of history making restaurants. Here is one - a disgusting tourist trap if ever there was one, but one that has a very significant role in many histories.

Somewhere between the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona sits this ancient eatery - now overrun with tourists and offering pretty bad food. Why, you may, ask are tourists still flocking here ? Maybe this !

Enjoy !

With a Little Help from My Friends - The Beatles

Posted by Nerdyy

A beautiful song - its all about da unconditional friendships that help us navigate those tricky paths of life :D

What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mmm,I get high with a little help from my friends,
Mmm, I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends.

What do I do when my love is away,
Does it worry you to be alone?
How do I feel by the end of the day
Are you sad because you're on your own?
No, I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mmm, get high with a little help from my friends,
Mmm, gonna to try with a little help from my friends

Holy Pakoras and Chicken Tikkas

I am Back !!! Welcoming the most beautiful month of the year :D. I can definitely admit to being inspired by Ms IQ, who is on a burning quest to relive beautiful memories, make new ones and perhaps, most importantly, flaunt around in her new avatar as a GHOST ! Butterfly Effect as a result is alive and kicking, and I felt inspired enough to awaken Musik-Ellishus from the Dead - yes you can call it the Walking Dead :D

There will be music, there will be food, there will be travels, and there will be entertainment favorites - all of the usual in fact. It won't be daily, but I will strive to post something with some regularity.

Next post - in two days !

The Hills Are Alive with The Sound of Music

Posted by Nerdyy

Ah its Springtime again and even though the last couple of days might have felt like mid March rather than late April, the flowers and the tiny new leaves peeking out from the branches remind us that time indeed cannot be rewound.

And again I find myself in the little gap between work, escaping the city to visit some family in gorgeous California - so yes the hills are alive but not in Salzburg.

There are so many memories of this house where I'm at - a lot of them good, some of them extremely sad and painful - but this might be the last time I ever stand here looking down at the driveway and massive expanse of yard, and gaze down this wondrous sight. The next time I am in this part of the world, it is expected that I will not be here. Farewell beautiful house - We will all miss you :D

Once in a century on March 14 (actually twice if you use the 12 hour clock rather than the 24 hour clock) you get the first 10 numbers of Pi - also assuming you use the US format of month day year.

The Second City

Posted by Nerdyy

The city of my birth and my first two decades or so of life, was also once called the Second City of the British Empire, with classical colonial remnants still dominating the landscape. Here are some glimpses.

Raj Bhavan formerly the residence of the Viceroy of India

Victoria Memorial - dedicated to (of course) Queen Victoria

General Post Office - a classic domed structure
The Howrah Bridge - any movie shot in Calcutta will have this somewhere

A couple of non-building shots:

Ram Teri Ganga Maili Ho Gayee ....

SPRING ! Yellow Gulmohar
Time to bid adieu to India and start my long trek back home - again through Hong Kong :D

My Favorite City in India

Posted by Nerdyy

Delhi is just beautiful in late February early March with highs in the mid 60s to low 70s (F) and the flowers just starting to bloom. Here are some vignettes:

Mid Morning Traffic

Rashtrapati Bhavan (formerly the Viceroys residence)

India Gate

North Wall of Purana Qila

And finally to gladden the heart of a friend:

You Talking to Me ? YOU TALKING TO ME ?

Next stop - the city of my birth and the first 22 years of my life :D

Glimpses from Southeast Asia

Posted by Nerdyy

So here I am in mid February with a couple of weeks off and racing away from a bitterly cold hometown temperature of 9F to spend the time off in some sun, and catching up with relatives that live in Asia. Transiting through a very festive Hong Kong airport on Chinese Lunar New Years day, I end up a few hours later in the City of the Lion :D

Saara Shehar Mujhe LOIN ke naam se jaanta hai

... or Merlion as he is correctly called - a mx between a fish and a lion. (I can almost hear someone screaming at me - "you and your Ajit jokes" - to her I would say this is an original Ajit dialogue - not a joke :P)

The city is hot and humid - so you do need to hydrate yourself from time to time - and what better way than to head over here:

Raffles Hotel - home of the Singapore Sling
And if you feel peckish head over to one of many joints serving this:

Chilli Crab
.... and no - the Chilli Crab hasnt affected my brain :D
