Holy Pakoras and Chicken Tikkas

I am Back !!! Welcoming the most beautiful month of the year :D. I can definitely admit to being inspired by Ms IQ, who is on a burning quest to relive beautiful memories, make new ones and perhaps, most importantly, flaunt around in her new avatar as a GHOST ! Butterfly Effect as a result is alive and kicking, and I felt inspired enough to awaken Musik-Ellishus from the Dead - yes you can call it the Walking Dead :D

There will be music, there will be food, there will be travels, and there will be entertainment favorites - all of the usual in fact. It won't be daily, but I will strive to post something with some regularity.

And here is the first day of Ashwin - and for Bengalis it means Mahalaya which is the official start of the Puja season. Early in the morning Bengalis wake up to the traditional program of Chandipath as well as songs and music all signifying the impending arrival of Ma Durga. I remember the radio being switched on in our house early in the morning of Mahalaya, of course needless to add I slept through most of it :D - so here's a first - Sanskrit on the pages of Musikellishus. Happy listening and happy festive season (btw this also coincides with Navatri celebrated throughout much of India, and the festival of Dussehra in North India, on the tenth day of the month)

My favorite song about my adopted homeland, this was performed at the Inauguration Festivities for Barack Obama in January 2009 before his first term began. I cannot think of a more appropriate song, a more appropriate occasion for the song, and a more appropriate setting (in front of the Lincoln Memorial, with the statue of Abraham Lincoln looking on) to live out the the first few words of the Constitution of the United States "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union" .... the quest for that more perfect union continues :D

Also appropriate for the occasion, you see royalty and commoners mingling together in the vast sea of humanity - yes that is George Lucas(among others) along with hundreds of thousands of other people singing along :D
