And here is the first day of Ashwin - and for Bengalis it means Mahalaya which is the official start of the Puja season. Early in the morning Bengalis wake up to the traditional program of Chandipath as well as songs and music all signifying the impending arrival of Ma Durga. I remember the radio being switched on in our house early in the morning of Mahalaya, of course needless to add I slept through most of it :D - so here's a first - Sanskrit on the pages of Musikellishus. Happy listening and happy festive season (btw this also coincides with Navatri celebrated throughout much of India, and the festival of Dussehra in North India, on the tenth day of the month)
