Paris Part Deux

Posted by Nerdyy

Damn - I have been so busy its been almost impossible to put together a few sentences to even make sense as a travel write up. Well guide or no guide - here are some more pictures.

Seine
Nothing captures the romance of Paris as the bridges across the Seine - truly a captivating site - there are a couple of bridges where people (usually couples) attach a lock on the side of the bridge along with their names - for posterity. There are two ways to see the beauty of the Seine - both equally enticing - one just walk and two take one of the bateaux (boat) tours.

Boat Tour
However I had very little time to do all this - as noted before I took a hop on and off tour where I connected with 4 different tours at different drop off and hop on points.

Place de la Concorde from across the river
One of the great sites in Paris - this is the former Place Louis XV later changed to Place de la Revolution - yes all the history and beheadings happened here. In the background (way back) you see the Eglise de la Madeline - Place Madeline also has a bunch of great stores - among them Laduree (famous for macarons - I had posted a pic from my Dec visit a while ago), Fauchon and Hediard (two great food stores) and Marquise De Sevigne (great chocolates).

After the Concorde, the bus takes a right turn to one of the most famous streets in the world - Champs Elysees.

Champs Elysees from the bus
Far away you see the Arc De Triomphe. Here is a closer look.

Arc De Triomphe
Next stop Eiffel Tower.

Eiffel Tower
It was a partially cloudy day so some of my pics were with the blue skies in the background and some had cloudy backgrounds - but it was a cooler day and I loved it.

Eiffel Tower
I love this pic - interesting combo of the leafy trees and the Eiffel Tower.

Invalides - Napoleons tomb

  1. "However I had very little time to do all this" Sooo, you were going to attach a lock with your lover's name on it, had you not been otherwise rushed? LOLLL

and I have to hand it to you :D I love that tree-tower shot! Along with the right combination of clouds and blue sky!

The texture of the Invalides pic is also so nicely sleek; the continuous lines of the building and the soft brushstroke clouds.

    6. Um...because you already overloaded the bridge with 8374785 other locks with the names of your other gfs. Hence, due to safety of all pedestrians crossing without fear of bridge collapsing, we uhh had to remove that one :P
