Provence

After the end of the work stuff in Paris, it was time to head for a little R & R and some wine tasting too - France has an excellent railway network with the high speed TGV trains making connectivity between relatively far away places very efficient. The distance between Paris and Aix-en-Provence is about 640 kms or about 400 miles. The TGV train covers the distance in approximately 3 hours with top speeds of about 200 mph - nice eh :D

Aix is the city of fountains

French Countryside and Vineyards

There was also a visit to the Mediterranean town of Cassis also a wine producing area.

This was my second visit to the Mediterranean in 6 months - the dark blue sea is truly spectacular

Pure heaven
Aix and the rest of Provence is also famous for its produce and food markets - the produce is really stunning, as are the saucissons (dried sausages) cheeses olives and of course the Poulet Roti. Dont drool at these pictures too much :P

The best way to enjoy the food is to go in the morning and bring a bunch of stuff back home - since I was staying in a place with a fridge and microwave I brought all this stuff home along with some excellent rotisserie chicken and potatoes - heaven :D

After three days in Provence it was back to Paris for a day and then back home :D

  2. Your last para reminds me of Eat Pray Love when Liz lays out a “still life salad” of her favourite things – boiled eggs, asparagus, salmon, goats cheese, olives and a peach – on a beautiful plate and then eats it on the floor of her Roman apartment, in a sunbeam, with her fingers, while reading the newspaper. ♥ One of my fav bits.
